Have you ever tried to look for something but somehow couldn’t find it? If you experienced this, you may have heard comments like:

“If it was a snake it would have bit you.”

“You’re as blind as a bat.”

“It’s right under your nose.”

Sometimes, things are right in front of us, but we fail to see it.

For example, I recall a business trip that I took a number of years ago. I left Chicago to fly to Las Vegas, which was not a hardship as the temperature was 5-below zero at the time. To my surprise, I made it through the airport and security with relative ease and low stress.

The skies were extremely overcast when we finally left Chicago, looking like a nasty storm was brewing. Even though my flight was slightly delayed in departing, we still landed on time.

But as we were about 30 minutes or so outside of our destination, I looked out the small window of the plane. What I saw was breathtaking. We were flying over the Grand Canyon, and the sky had a beautiful blue tint. And yes, the canyon view was incredible.
Right Under Your Nose

How blessed I felt to witness such a beautiful site. The creation of God’s handiwork was right below me, and I encountered a warm feeling build within my chest. What a wonderful world this is, and we have been given this world to care for and protect. This really made me appreciate the fact that we all need to take better care of this world before we destroy what God has made.

May we always remember to be the very best stewards of God’s creation and always see the beauty that is right under our nose.

You are the Lord, you alone; You made the heavens, the highest heavens and all their host, the earth and all that is upon it, the seas and all that is in them. To all of them you give life, the heavenly hosts bow down before you. ~Nehemiah 9:6
