Where Were You?

good fridayThe following song was written years ago when I was reflecting on what Jesus had gone through in order to save us. Despite the fact that we were not actually present when all this occurred, we continue to persecute and kill by our words and actions. I pray that these words allow us to become one with the suffering Christ and to make the changes needed in our lives to live according to his word. Let us carry our cross in order to bring resurrection into the lives of others.

Where Were You?

Where were you when he needed a friend?
When he tried to free this world of sin?
The battles he fought with those who were taught
that God was not of human kind.

Where were you when he walked that impossible mile?
Where were you when he suffered and died?
He always reached out to those in need,
where were you when he needed a friend.

Where were you when he made the blind see?
And told the world to get rid of its greed?
To live everyday for your Father who made
the heavens, the earth, and the sea.

Where were you when they placed the thorns on his head?
Where were you when they nailed him down?
He shed his blood as we turned away,
where were you when he needed a friend.

Don’t you know he’s always there when we need him to be,
but where were you when he needed a friend.
