“What a beautiful day,” I thought as I ventured out on a nature walk. The October sun was bright and warm while an autumn breeze gently blew through the trees, shaking loose its leaves as a reminder that even nature is preparing for another season to come.

As I walk through the fallen leaves, there is a melodious crunching sound beneath my feet with every forward step that I take. I deeply breathe in the fresh air, and I suddenly felt the very presence of God. As I gazed around me at God’s beautiful creation, I was filled with awe, realizing how lucky I was to be witnessing this scene. I stop and think for a moment that I am a part of this beautiful painting. With every stroke of his brush, God painted this intricate mural filled with trees, plants, grass, flowers, and birds. And here I am, standing right in the middle of it all. How blessed I am to be a part of God’s creation.

What A Beautiful DayI continue my walk, meditating with each step on the greatness of our God. As the sun kisses my face, I imagine that this must be how it feels to be kissed by God – by a God who loves me so much that he continually walks with me day in and day out. I fully trust and believe that God is with me always, and at this very moment, his presence fills me with an immense feeling of joy.

As I reach the top of the hill, I spot a place to sit and rest. As the breeze blows through my hair (the little that I have, that is), it feels as though God is whispering to me. I cannot quite describe what words were being said, but I know that the message was for me. I quietly sit and just be in God’s presence, still and peaceful. God gave me this wondrous scene as a gift to show his love for me. I slowly close my eyes and ponder the moment, this very beautiful moment.

Sometimes, you and I just need to step away from all of the things that weigh us down, stress us out, or burden our minds. Sometimes, we just need to pause, just enough to remember who we are and how much we are loved. If we could take only a few minutes each day to sit with God, it would actually change the outcome of everything we do. God is always with us. We just need to take the time to realize it.

“What a beautiful day, indeed!”

You will show me the path to life, abounding joy in your presence, the delights at your right hand forever. ~Psalm 16:11
